Well, after the Longest Night (or ‘Christmas Eve’ as you probably know it), all of Santa’s vast team have a good few weeks off to rest after the epic build-up.
And let’s be honest, Santa also has to get some extra exercise in, because those mince pies, cookies, sherries, milk and the occasional bacon sarnie, add-up to quite a wobbly tummy.
Anyway, Santa and I were going for our daily jog around Yule Town and he says to me: “Ronald,” – because that’s my name after-all, and it would be quite odd if he called me “Stuart”. So then, I said “gnnnphfff-hfff-hfff”, because jogging’s quite tiring when you’re a 127 year old Polar Bear with creaky knees.
So then we had a sit down and a conversation something like the below:
Santa: I get asked a lot of questions you know.
Me: You mean like ‘What’s the capital of Paris?’, or ‘Who invented the scarf?’ That sort of thing.
Santa: No, don’t be daft. I mean about Christmas. About what happens behind the scenes. Can reindeer really fly faster than the speed of sound? Do elves really wear pointy slippers in the snow? Stuff like that.
Me: Ah, I see. Well I hope you tell them to mind their own business and stop sticking their noses into things that don’t concern them.
Santa: Don’t be ridiculous Ronald. I’m a kindly old magical toymaker. Of course, I try to answer the questions. But it’s starting to take-up a lot of time. and I wondered if you could help out a bit.
Anyway I won’t bore you with the rest of the chat. But in the end I agreed to create this website to pull together a lot more information about Santa, his realm of Yule Town and all the magical creatures who live here to make each Christmas happen.
Thing is, to be honest, I’m also quite busy. Santa’s very forgetful, so I spend a lot my time trying to remind him to keep various appointments, like getting his beard combed, or remembering to hoover the cookie crumbs out of his sleigh. So after speaking with some of the elves, we thought a blog would be the best way to give a bit more information out as the year goes along. And here it is!
